01Capabilities

Built for facilities that cannot lose power.

Combo Electric specializes in commercial and industrial electrical work where downtime is measured in dollars per minute. One contractor, one accountable crew, from the utility service to the server rack.

01

Data Center Electrical Infrastructure

Complete power paths for colocation and enterprise halls — service entrance, distribution, PDU and rack-level delivery engineered to ride through utility loss.

Medium-voltage service down to 120V branch circuits. We build and terminate the entire chain, from 4,160V switchgear to the last receptacle.

03

Power Generation & Backup

Generator paralleling, automatic transfer switches and standby power for generation plants and mission-critical facilities.

04

Switchgear, Panels & Transformers

Rigging, bus assembly, torque-to-spec terminations and insulation testing for new installs and equipment replacements.

05

Battery Storage & UPS Systems

VRLA, lithium-ion and modular UPS builds with N+1 and 2N redundancy, integrated with your monitoring platform.

06

Testing, Commissioning & Service

Megger and insulation resistance testing, torque verification and load bank runs — documented, then backed by our lifetime guarantee.

02The Phase Lab

Power is a waveform. We read it precisely.

Every service we build is a study in phase, balance and harmonic load. Below are the three distributions we engineer daily — the sine and cosine relationships that decide whether your equipment runs clean for decades or fails early.

Single-Phase

SINGLE

1 waveform · sin θ · 60 Hz

0°90°180°270°360°450°540°
sin θ

One alternating sine wave. The foundation of tenant power — 120V line-to-neutral and 240V line-to-line feeding lighting, controls, receptacles and single-phase equipment.

Dual-Phase

DUAL

3 waveforms · sin, cos, tan · 60 Hz

0°90°180°270°360°450°540°
sin θcos θtan θ

Sine and cosine — two waveforms a quarter-cycle apart — and tangent, their ratio, the phase-angle relationship that governs power factor and reactive load. We also engineer split-phase services where legs L1 and L2 sit 180° apart, doubling voltage without doubling conductor size.

Three-Phase

THREE

3 waveforms · 120° apart · 60 Hz

0°90°180°270°360°450°540°
A · 0°B · 120°C · 240°

Three waveforms spaced 120° deliver constant, balanced power. It is what drives chillers, CRAH units, pumps and 480V UPS systems — and why phase balance is engineered, never guessed.

03Voltage Ladder

From 120V branch circuits to medium voltage service.

Combo Electric works the full voltage stack — the same crew that lands a 480V feeder can trace a 120V control circuit. That range is what keeps a facility coherent from the utility transformer to the last outlet.

120V
Single-phase branch power

General lighting, receptacles, control and instrumentation circuits, IDF closets and emergency egress lighting. We balance these circuits across phases so neutral current and harmonic distortion stay in check.

240V
Single-phase, three-wire

Panelboards, HVAC condensers, small machinery, tenant fit-outs, EV chargers and dry-type step-down transformers. Split-phase legs L1 and L2 deliver 240V from the same service that gives you 120V.

480V+
Three-phase & medium voltage

The distribution voltage of data centers and heavy industry. Feeds chillers, CRAH units, pumps, large motors, UPS input and switchgear — with medium-voltage service to 4,160V and beyond where the utility requires it.

Transformers

Stepping utility power down — correctly sized, not just matched.

Dry-type and isolation transformers from 480V to 208/120V, specified for the load you actually run: K-rated for harmonic-rich server equipment, delta-wye or isolation configuration as the design requires, with thermal margin, shielding and a grounding electrode system built to code.

  • K-rated for non-linear loads
  • Isolation & harmonic mitigation
  • Neutral and grounding sized to load
  • Thermal and fault-current margin

Battery Storage & Redundancy

Redundancy engineered so a utility sag never reaches a rack.

Battery strings, modular UPS and generator-backed power built to N+1 and 2N topologies. We monitor battery health, sequence automatic transfer, and prove runtime under load before the hall goes live — then stand behind it for the life of the installation.

  • N+1 and 2N UPS topology
  • VRLA and lithium-ion strings
  • Automatic transfer switches
  • Load bank and runtime testing
04Data Center Plans

We read the plan before we pull a single wire.

A data center electrical plan is a set of promises about redundancy, capacity and separation. Here is a typical low-voltage scope we take from drawing to commissioned system — every item coordinated with the GC, the mechanical trades and the commissioning agent.

Electrical floor plan of a data center
Typical low-voltage distribution planSHEET E-1

Every sheet is reviewed for one-line accuracy, device coordination, conduit fill, voltage drop and available fault current before mobilization. Changes that would compromise redundancy get flagged in pre-construction — not found during commissioning.

01

Utility Service & Medium-Voltage Switchgear

Incoming service, metering, main breakers and MV gear — sized with future capacity so a pod expansion never forces a service upgrade.

02

Transformers & Main Distribution

Step-down to 480V and 208/120V feeding main distribution boards, with selective coordination and arc-flash labeling from day one.

03

UPS Modules & Battery Cabinets

Double-conversion UPS with N+1 modules and monitored battery strings carrying the hall through transfer to generator.

04

Power Distribution Units

Floor-mounted or in-row PDUs delivering branch circuits to racks, metered per circuit for real capacity planning.

05

Busway & Intelligent Rack PDUs

Overhead busway drops and switched rack PDUs giving per-outlet monitoring and remote reboot at the cabinet.

06

Structured Cabling Backbone

Cat6A and OM4 fiber from MDA to HDA to rack, with labeled patch panels, dressing and certified test results handed over.

07

Cable Tray, Pathway & Containment

Overhead tray and basket pathways that keep power separated from data and tie cleanly into hot/cold aisle containment.

08

Grounding & Bonding

Telecommunications bonding backbone, grounding busbars and isolated ground reference protecting equipment and signal integrity.

09

Monitoring, Controls & Life Safety

EPMS/BMS points, leak detection, thermal sensors, lighting control and fire alarm interfaces — wired, addressed and commissioned.

06Workmanship

Unprecedented workmanship is a standard, not a slogan.

Anyone can pull wire. What separates an installation that lasts thirty years from one that fails in three is craftsmanship you can inspect — and a contractor willing to guarantee it in writing.

Lifetime Guarantee

Combo Electric stands behind its workmanship for the life of the installation. Licensed, insured and bonded in California.

Nothing hidden behind a wall

Every circuit is labeled, every panel schedule delivered, every as-built marked up. Your next contractor will know exactly what they are walking into.

03

A lifetime guarantee we can stand behind

Because we install to spec the first time, we can guarantee the workmanship for the life of the installation — insured, bonded and accountable.
